Adopt-a-Magazine

The LES Library is looking to bring back monthly magazine subscriptions!  To help us do so, you can make a donation that is meaningful to you.  All donations are welcome.  $5 will cover the cost of 2 issues.  $125 will cover the cost of all magazines for the whole year.

Please contact the LES Librarian, Lani Blechman, to donate.

Birthday Books

The Birthday Book Program at LES has been a great way to celebrate children’s birthdays while building our library collection.  You can make a donation to the library and have the librarian purchase a book (printed or recorded) especially chosen with your child’s interests and literary tastes in mind or request a specific title or subject.  If you prefer, you may purchase or donate a book and send it to school.  All Birthday Books have a commemorative book plate with the child’s name and birthday and your name as the donor.

To participate, please contact the LES Librarian, Lani Blechman.

Donating Your Books

We are always appreciative of gifts and donations. Gifts will be evaluated using the same criteria that we use for all items that we add to our collection. If a donation is a duplicate or not needed in our collection, it may be offered to a classroom teacher or to students in our school.

Twice a year, we host a Book Swap among students and donations are particularly welcome during this time.

We will make every effort to make sure that your donation will be used either by our library or someone else who will appreciate it.

We generally accept book donations that:

  • have been published since the year 2000;
  • are new or in good condition (no tears, stains, mold, etc.);
  • are appropriate in reading level and content for elementary-aged students.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept donations of encyclopedias or sticker books.

We are particularly looking for books that are poetry for children, graphic novels for children, bilingual or in Spanish, early readers, nonfiction, and popular picture books and fiction.

Please contact the LES library (blechman AT leverettschool DOT org) to donate.
